Disgusting, don't hold in your fart too long or it will come out through your mouth, expert explained

Illustration Illustration - According to nutrition and diet expert from the University of Newcastle, Professor Clare Collins, holding in fart can cause some of the gas to be reabsorbed into the circulation and exhaled in our breath. "Holding in fart for too long means that there is a buildup of gas in the intestine which will eventually escape through the only way, mouth" he was quoted as saying by The Sun.

He also warned of other conditions caused by fart, namely diverticulitis which makes the intestinal lining become inflamed. Fart is a natural response to the digestive process of food. When food is digested in the small intestine, undigested pieces of food move further and reach the large intestine.

When bacteria in the intestine break down food through fermentation, gas is produced. Some are reabsorbed which is exhaled through the lungs or excreted in the form of fart. So, if you don't want the smell of fart to pass through your breath it is good not to hold in the fart too often. If you can't hold it, you can let it out where no one can hear you fart.
