News24xx.com -  A Russian hacker group named Money Taker is have successfully to stolen nearly USD 10 million or about IDR135 billion from Automated Teller Machines
(ATM) networks in the United States and Russia.

This hacking action and theft lasted for 18 months back.

In this attack, there are 18 banks that are targeted, and 15 of them are banks from the US, as quoted from Engadget on Tuesday December 12 2017.

This attack broke through the interbank transfer system to hijack payment orders. Then the hacker account used to hoard the theft was also withdrawn the money using an ATM.


The first attack that came to light came in the spring of 2016, in which MoneyTaker attacked Star's First owned network, which is the largest transfer network system for ATM in the US.

They attacked the AW CRB network in Russia and stole many documents from Ocean Systems' Fed Link system, which is used by 200 banks in the US.

It is unclear who is behind MoneyTaker, because they are constantly to changing tools and methods to break down the software security. They also very careful to removing their traces.


This kind of hacking has no direct impact on account holders, as it attacks the interbank transfer system to emptying individual accounts.
