Arab League Will Announce East Jerusalem as Palestinian Capital

Arab League Will Announce East Jerusalem as Palestinian Capital Jordan's King Abdullah (right) meets with Moroccan foreign minister Nasser Bourita in Amman on January 6/ EPA - The Arab League will seek international recognition of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, the Jordanian foreign minister said on Saturday, after Arab foreign ministers met in Amman to discuss Washington's recognition of the holy city as Israel's capital.

"There is a political decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and we will strive to reach an international political decision to recognise a Palestinian state … with [East] Jerusalem as its capital," Jordanian foreign minister Ayman Safadi said, according to Agence France-Presse.

As reported by CNNIndonesia, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said the meeting to recognize East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine has been done. The high-level meeting was attended by Foreign Ministers of Egypt, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and the Palestinian Authority, as well as the ministers of the United Arab Emirates.

On the same occasion, the Arab League chief, Abu Gheit, called the vast Arab foreign ministers meeting to be held in late January. The Arab League of nature continues to seek international support to recognize the Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

With this effort, it also denied the recognition of the United States (US) who called Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. President Donald Trump's statement on the holy city of three religions has also been rejected based on the UN Assembly session some time ago.

As is known until now Israel still insist that the City of Jerusalem belongs to his country. Even Israel declares Jerusalem as its eternal capital.

Yet by international law Jerusalem is still a colonized land. So it takes a dialogue to find a solution of the status of the City of Jerusalem.***
