The head of the State Board of Higher Education, Mehdi Navid-Adham, quoted by Al Arabiya website on Monday, January 8, 2018 says, "To teaching of English language in government and non-government elementary schools in the official curriculum is against the law and regulation, which is appropriate for students to learn Iranian culture. "

 
Furthermore, Mehdi said English lessons in Iran are usually presented in secondary schools, ie at the age of 12 to 14 years. English lessons should not be in children under age.


Previously the supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, voiced his anger in 2016. Iranian authorities often warn of the dangers of foreign cultural invasions.


"English teaching has spread to primary schools, which does not mean a complete refusal to learn a foreign language, but this is a foreign cultural promotion in this country," he said.
