Coco won the best animation movie in Oscar 2018

Coco, Disney and Pixar animated film directed by Lee Unkrich won the category of best animated film in Oscar 2018. The film also won as the best animated film in Golden Globes, Baftas, New York Film Critics Circle and Producers Guild, as well as 11 awards of special animation Annie. The film earned $ 730 million, making it the second most popular animated film in 2017 after Despicable Me 3.

The story of Coco takes place in Mexico. It tells the story of Miguel, a 12-year-old boy who tries hard to achieve his dream of becoming a musician. He had to face many pressures, including from his own parents, who are against his dream. Miguel was born in a family with an antipathy toward music. One day, he experiences a magical thing, and finds himself in Dia de los Muertos, or the “Land of the Dead.”

The co-director of Coco, Adrian Molino said that the film was made to inspire people to follow their dreams. It also taught the audience the importance of family and respect for your ancestors.

The film, which was inspired from Mexican national holiday “Day of the Dead,” had started its production in 2011. Pixar Animation Studio also worked together with cultural consultant team. They considered everything carefully, from the characters, the clothes worn by them, the settings, the color choices and the dialogues. Among the actors involved in Coco were Benjamin Bratt, Alana Ubach, and Anthony Gonzales.
