SIAK - The National Batik Day which is celebrated every October 2nd and the 20th Anniversary of Siak Regency is a special moment for high school and Siak Kindergarten students.
The activity that took place at Taman Tengku Agung on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, was welcomed with enthusiasm by the participants.
Chairman of the Siak Dekranasda Regency Rasidah Alfedri said, this activity was the Siak Batik Festival in order to preserve the nation's cultural heritage.
"This activity is in the context of introducing and promoting Siak batik to the wider community," Rasidah said.
In addition she said, as well as introducing batik motifs to children of Pre-school age and high school students to preserve the culture of the nation, especially Siak batik.
It was further explained that in these activities a number of types of competitions were held. For example, batik motif designs, mass batik making for students and paud children and fashion show competitions.
One participant in the Tengku Nova Ilsya class 12 of SMAN 2 Siak said she was nervous and happy because she had a new experience of making batik. "It turns out that batik is very fun, I think it is difficult," she said.
The motif she is working on is dominant red, which turns out to be her favorite color. "This red symbolizes courage," Nova said timidly.
According to Putri Ningsih, a teacher in the field of arts and culture at 2 Siak High School, added that such activities were very positive for students, especially for their students.
"This is good, it can train the patience of children as well as being able to introduce the nation's cultural heritage," he said. (R24 / Lin)
